For Sale at Auction: 1967 Chevrolet Suburban in Billings, Montana for sale in Billings, MT
Vehicle Description 1967 Chevrolet Suburban VIN:
CE167Z161639 This Suburban is Selling No Reserve! Introduced in 1935, the Suburban has remained a steadfast model in the Chevrolet line-up when so many other model names have come and gone over the years.
In the early years, the Suburban was essentially an off-shoot of the panel truck and was fitted with rear windows and rear seats.
The model line essentially became a heavy duty station wagon.
Though initial sales were limited, they were encouraging enough to keep the model in the lineup after the Second World War and into the Advance Design and Task Force eras.
The 1950s saw increasing sales of the Suburban which carried long into the future! The Introduction of the C-series and K-series trucks, beginning with the new-for-1960 C-series (and K-series, for four-wheel-drive) was very successful for GM.
A few years later, marking the first structural change of the decade, the all-new 1967 GM trucks also included a three-door Suburban.
All previous Suburbans were two-doors plus the choice of a tailgate/lift gate or double barn door cargo doors in the rear.
The new Suburban finally made life easier for passengers in the second row of seats, as the third door was on the curb side for them.
Combined with a boom in the camping market, these steps saw sales increase even further.
The Suburban presented at auction started with a rust free Arizona, three door truck.
With only 6200 Suburban's produced in 1967, this is a rare and special truck which features the following:
- A high-quality frame-off rotisserie nut and bolt Restoration.
Painted in a custom Rust Metallic and GM White paint with a cowl induction hood and custom interior and sound system.
- Featured in 2011 Petersen's 4-Wheel & Off-Road magazine which held a contest for the coolest Suburban in the country and this custom-built Suburban was voted the winner.
- The Suburban is powered by a 502 Cubic Inch GM big block crate engine with an Edelbrock intake manifold and EPS 800 carburetor.
- Hedman Ceramic coated Headers with 3 Dual exhaust.
- 700R4 automatic transmission with an NP205 transfer case - Dana 44 front axle with 373 gears, 12-bolt rear axle with 373 gears.
- Rancho 41 leaf springs and Skyjacker front and rear shocks.
- Michelin 31 X 10.
5R X 15 Defender LTX M/S tires with AMR CHROME SMOOTHIES wheels.
- Equipped with Dual air conditioning, power steering and brakes.
- Limo Tinted glass.
- Grote LED road lights hidden in front grill.
- Valley 12000 # receiver with POD electric brake controller.
Acquired in 2018, the current owner was familiar with the build of this stunning truck personally knowing the gentleman and the crew that built the Suburban.
The restoration was complete in 2011, giving the builder 7 Years of ownership allowing for a tried and tested Custom Cruiser.
The builder John Kouw, of Cruising Customs, took no short cuts and had no cost restrictions on this build.
Hard to find a tried and true show and cruise custom.
This Suburban was featured in an issue of Petersen's 4-Wheel & Off-Road magazine, of which a copy featuring the vehicle is included.
This car has been consigned to the 9th Annual Montana Classic Car Auction hosted by the Classic Car Auction Group.
