Vehicle Description 1968 Chevrolet Camaro RS VIN:
124378N425103 This car is likely one of the most documented 1st Generation Camaros you will ever see! This Camaro was a dream come true for an Airman from Great Falls, MT in 1968! While stationed in Vietnam, the airman ordered this car through the General Motors Overseas Distributor Corporation exactly as he and his family wanted with plans to pick up the car in person upon return to the United States from deployment overseas.
A trip to Detroit, Michigan with his young family to retrieve the car was documented in pictures and the car presents today just as you will see in the family photos from the late 1960s and early 70s! This Camaro will come with the following:
- Original Title (car to be sold with duplicate, modern title) - Original Bill of Sale - Original Keys, some unused - Original Body Broadcast Copy - Original Overseas Correspondence Papers - Pictures of the car new, before it was plated - Picture of the Applegate Chevrolet Dealership in Detroit, MI where the buyer took possession - Map that lead the way to the dealership for the Airman and his young family to pick up their new car - Various additional items such as receipts, registrations, owner's manual, etc.
The Grotto Blue Camaro, Paint code DD, was ordered with the following options:
- Posi-traction rear axle - Automatic Transmission - Power Steering - Tinted Glass - Radio - White Wall Tires - Center Console - Front Paint Stripe - Space Saver Spare Tire (notice the original inflator can present in the car) - Rally Sport Package In the mid 2000s, the retired airman had the Camaro re-painted to original factory specifications.
The original chrome bumpers, stainless trim, badging, glass and date coded wheels were retained and present very well.
The only items on the exterior of the car that were replaced were the tail lights, gas cap, wheel well trim and tires! The interior of the car presents exactly to specs when rolling off the factory assembly line.
While the front bucket seat covers, carpet and rear package tray were replaced, everything else is original to the car.
The headliner, rear seats, dash, console and interior trim all present very well.
Even the splatter paint in the trunk is as it came from the factory! Mechanically, the car runs and drives great.
The 327 V-8 motor and automatic transmission are original to the car, and the engine has never been out of the car.
The engine was detailed/re-painted when the front clip was removed during the exterior re-paint.
This 1968 Camaro will be an excellent addition to any collection.
It will also serve well as a car to present at car shows or enjoy for a cruise around town with great bragging rights! This car has been consigned to the 9th Annual Montana Classic Car Auction hosted by the Classic Car Auction Group.
The auction is Saturday, September 4 at MetraPark in Billings, Montana.
