1) Safety First!; 2) Financial Success (including operational excellence); 3) Employee Satisfaction (including development and training), and 4) Customer Satisfaction.
Provides overall management of Transmission and Distribution field operations and operations employees.
Duties may include direct responsibility for one or more projects, from estimating and bid preparation through final acceptance.
Works closely with the Clients and/or Owner's representatives for assigned projects.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES / ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Supervise the field operations of the company for a specific division or geographical area.
Includes managing and scheduling employees.
Works with General Foreman to ensure crew make up is designed for optimal efficiency and productivity.
Reports crew changes to office to keep crew sheet current.
Ensure employees are paid per Union contracts (review/approval of time submitted to payroll) as well as ensuring employees perform work per contract with RMC customers.
Supervise total construction effort to ensure project is constructed in accordance with design, codes and standards, budget, and schedule.
Manage financial aspects of contracts to both protect the company's interests and also to maintain good client relationships.
Review and approve billing for accuracy prior to submittal to customer for payment.
Establish project objectives, policies, procedures, and performance standards within the boundaries of corporate policies.
Works to expand the company customer portfolio.
Requires identifying potential new customers, establishing, and ongoing maintenance of customer relationships.
Ensure company safety policies and procedures are followed.
Investigate, report, and correct any safety-related incidents.
Perform safety observations and crew/job site inspections to ensure safe work practices are employed (minimum of 1 visit/crew/month.
Present a minimum of 1 Safety Meeting in the field/quarter.
Investigates any situations with potential project impacts, mitigate wherever possible and initiate corrective action as necessary.
Interface with client and/or owner's representatives, other contractors, etc.
Represent company in project meetings.
Provide technical assistance or interpretation as needed.
Initiate and maintain extra work estimating and issuance of change orders.
Prepare complete estimates for selected projects which may include detailed review of specifications, drawings, take-off information, contract requirements, etc.
Perform additional duties as assigned.
JOB CRITERIA MINIMUM EDUCATION AND
Experience:
Educational and experience requirements includes; Four-year engineering degree or equivalent combinations of technical training and/or related experience.
Demonstrated construction management, estimating, and/or craft supervision experience in similar facility construction.
Thorough knowledge of all aspects of construction (technology, equipment, methods); craft agreements, jurisdiction, negotiations; engineering, estimating, schedules and safety required.
KEY SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES:
Understanding of corporate, industry and safety practices, processes, standards and how they affect project activities.
Requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to prioritize and complete projects on schedule.
Ability to apply effective management techniques to maximize performance.
Advanced knowledge and skills in the use of various Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Excellent communication, organizational and supervisory skills are essential.
Travel throughout Montana and neighboring states is expected.
