Summary:
Responsible for planning, managing, and implementing a wide range of marketing, advertising, sales, communications, and outreach programs for MET Transit with a focus on enhancing revenue and developing community understanding and support of services offered Scope of Responsibility:
Incumbent demonstrates familiarity with department and functional operations, with the ability to adapt to changing priorities, perform under pressure and work with minimal assistance or supervision.
Responsible for MET Transit's marketing, advertising sales and related concessions, branding, community engagement, social media, websites, and other related activities.
Position has a moderate impact on overall Department performance.
Must be able to perform detail-oriented work requiring interpretation of data, policy, processes, and procedures including problem resolution, communications, administrative and Department relations.
Position requires the ability to use discretion and tact while maintaining excellent customer service with a focused approach to tasks, responsibilities, and duties.
Will make decisions considering the advertising, marketing, and outreach objectives of the Department and the City.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities Advertising and Sales Develop and manage the advertising programs for the Transit Division including establishing advertising goals Maximize revenue potential from existing customers and expand customer advertising base through customer service relations and follow-up including proactive engagement to identify and address client issues and concerns; identify new sales prospects including cold calls Develop creative advertising solutions and programs including integrated advertising opportunities between both the Airport and Transit; develops scalable advertising packages to serve a wide range of potential customers Actively manage advertising displays, signage, and other advertising components at locations around the City including at facilities, on street, and on vehicle advertising; manage in-vehicle advertising systems including regular updates to infotainment systems and other electronic communications devices Work closely with vendors and other third parties to oversee design and production of materials and ensure quality of advertising product.
Assist with Department wide advertising activities as assigned.
Community Outreach and Marketing Develop, manage, and update the marketing, outreach, and engagement plans; establish and update goals for each plan Develop, manage, and maintain content and engagement for webpages and social media accounts.
Coordinate communication and distribution of information by social media, website, publication, phone, or other media as may be necessary to reach the appropriate audience; apply strategic thinking to communicating with new and existing customers.
Represent transit at public events and activities as assigned.
Assists with public involvement processes and input opportunities from the public and other stakeholders; develops customer surveys and compiles results.
Develops relationships and partnerships with community organizations and business; collaborates with third parties to promote, support and sponsor community events, special events, and other related activities.
Manages media campaigns, strategic partnerships, aesthetic, and branding.
Develop customer campaigns, service promotions, educational events and materials, and related outreach and community programs.
Develop, refine, present, or provide documents and files including presentations, newsletters, brochures, flyers, and correspondence.
Coordinate video production, photography, radio/audio production, and other materials; works closely with vendors and other third parties to oversee design and production of materials and ensure quality of product; catalogs materials for future use.
Assist with Department wide outreach and marketing as assigned.
Administrative Monitor and evaluate the efficiency and effectiveness of methods and procedures; identify and implement opportunities for improvement.
Research, gather, compile, and prepare information as required to complete narratives, reporting documents, or other activities.
Analyze and evaluate data as necessary to support programs and objectives; provide status and other reports as needed.
Prepare data for reporting and presentation in variety of formats as needed; prepare client sales activity reports, prepare invoices for advertising, contracts, and other documents as needed.
Develop and maintain data files, spreadsheets and databases as needed.
Engages in data management practices, ensuring accessibility, integrity, and reliability of department data.
Collect, analyze, evaluate, prepare, and present materials, data, and comments.
Develop selection documents including requests for proposals and/or qualifications for various advertising, marketing, and outreach concessions and contracts.
Assist in creation of annual advertising, marketing, and outreach budgets.
Project budget revenues for programs.
Performs all other duties and tasks as assigned Will perform any other function or duty as assigned by the Department.
Provides back up to Department staff with assigned tasks as needed, covers duties during staff absences.
Participate in the selection of staff and provide or coordinate training as needed.
Qualifications and Skills Required Qualifications and Skills:
Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business/Public Administration, Communications, Public Relations, or a related field Three (3) years of working experience with sales, advertising, tourism, social media, websites, and public outreach OR Seven (7) years equivalent combination of education and working experience with sales, advertising, tourism, social medial, websites, and public outreach.
AND Must be proficient with personal computers and a variety of software including Microsoft Office applications, websites, and specialized software.
Must have a current Montana driver's license or must be obtained within thirty (30) days of employment.
Preferred Qualifications and Skills:
Experience with city government and knowledge of department and functional operations Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.
Physical Demands and Working Conditions Primarily work is indoors in a normal office environment.
Intermittent physical effort involving lifting of 25 pounds or less and outside work is required.
Work requires attention to detail or deadlines between 55% and 80% of the time.
A typical workday involves about 75% of the time spent sitting and frequent use of a keyboard.
In some department applications, it may be necessary to drive on occasion or attend events at various locations.
