Responsibilities:
Uses personal experience with behavior health diagnosis disorder to provide support, mentoring, guidance, and advocacy.
Offers hope to individuals struggling with substance abuse/behavioral health disorders.
Promotes a team culture in which they recognize, understand, and respect individual preferences and points of view and ensures that they are integrated into the treatment, rehabilitation and community self-help activities.
Assists individuals in a variety of ways, including problem solving, mediation, brief respite, community stabilization and relapse prevention.
The Peer Specialist provides emotional support to participants to assist their maintenance in the least restrictive setting and to enhance self-sufficiency skills.
Provides transportation related to outings and resource connection.
Communicates emotional and behavioral observations to the treatment team and completes record keeping functions.
FLSA STATUS:
Non-Exempt MAJOR FUNCTIONS:
1.
Provide coaching and support to assigned clients for recovery efforts leading to a sustained and stable recovery.
2.
Teach and support the acquisition and utilization of skills needed to facilitate the recovery process.
3.
Promote the knowledge of available service options, choices, and use of community resources.
4.
Facilitate contact with other people to promote learning of social and recreational skills.
5.
Provide peer support services in a one-on-one setting; assist in creating community and a sense of belonging.
6.
Participate in weekly staffing meetings, provide feedback and ideas to promote growth of clients being served.
7.
Complete all required client documentation (DAP notes), in compliance with the State and company standards.
8.
Establish a supportive relationship with clients in caseload, while modeling, teaching, and supporting clients.
9.
Collaborate with the treatment team to support and focus on a clients' goals, activities, and treatments.
10.
Meet caseload and billing expectations/requirements on a monthly, quarterly, and yearly basis.
11.
Must be able to use own vehicle to provide transportation for clients.
12.
Other duties as assigned by Senior Director of Outpatient Services and New Day, Inc.
administration.
SUPERVISORY
Responsibilities:
This position does not require any supervisory responsibilities.
Qualifications:
Must meet Montana Department of Labor and Industry Licensing requirements for Certified Behavioral Health Peer Support Specialist, in accordance with Montana Code Annotated and the Administrative Rules of the State of Montanan (MCA 37-78-202; ARM 24.

Self-identify as a client of mental health, behavioral health, and/or substance abuse.
EDUCATION AND/OR
Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret documents.
Ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries or complaints.
Ability to write reports and correspondence.
Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from individuals and groups.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
Must maintain current certifications in Non-violent crisis intervention, CPR, and First Aid.
Must have a valid Montana driver's license with an insurable driving record.
Current driver's license and full coverage vehicle insurance.

The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
